Salon business definition

Service margin

Revenue remaining after the costs assigned directly to delivering a service.

What it means

A useful service margin can include product cost and variable provider pay, but it should not be confused with final business profit because rent, software, insurance, administration, and owner compensation remain.

Example

A $150 service less $18 product and $60 variable pay leaves $72 before fixed expenses.
