The share of clients who return within a defined period.

What it means

Retention must specify the client group and return window. New-client retention and existing-client retention often behave differently and should be reviewed separately.

Example

If 80 first-time clients visited in January and 28 returned within 90 days, 90-day new-client retention is 35%.
